Presbyterian Church Donates $1600 to HCC Drug Free Club

The Presbyterian Church of Cadiz made a significant donation to the Harrison Career Center's Drug Free Club program. "The church decided to give 10% of our oil and gas lease bonus back to the community and this was a worthy cause for the youth of our county," stated pastor John Harris. "The church hopes to support other local causes," he added.

"We believe it's a worthwhile project and would like to see it expand into other local schools," offered Patrick Moore, a member of the church's finance committee.

Steve Romey, Drug Free Club advisor, offered his observation of the program. "The club has recognized students who are proud to be drug free. They feel it is okay to not be involved with drugs as they are learning trades at the Career Center and they know employers expect them to be drug free in order to enter the workforce. Students feel a sense of pride and confidence in themselves."
