Career Center Programs Participate in STEM Expo

Students from the Belmont Career Center displayed their programs of study at the Belmont College STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Expo for Belmont, Harrison and Monroe County 8th grade students in October.

Pictured, from left, are Bradley Huntsman, Union Local, and Abby Trigg, Bellaire, representing the Welding program; Cody Woofter, Barnesville, and Isaac Arnold, Harrison Central, representing the Drafting/CAD program; Rachel Stewart, Barnesville, and Fallyn Carpenter, Barnesville, representing the Visual Graphics and Web Design program; and Preston Pethtel, Bridgeport, and Verena Wilson, Martins Ferry, representing the PC & Network Technology program.

Research shows that during the middle school years, a student's interest in math and science may begin to wane. The purpose of the STEM Expo is to increase student awareness for a variety of STEM careers. STEM jobs are the jobs of the future, being essential for developing our technological innovation and global competitiveness.

The event was organized by Annmarie O'Grady, College Tech Prep Coordinator.
